8th graders completed their demonstration speeches last week. I was impressed by how professional and confident they were during their presentations. During the three class periods of speeches students learned how to make a smoothie, make an ocean tie dye cake, make a bagel sandwich, assemble a root beer float, bake whopper cookies, create paper flowers, make a duct tape wallet, make paper cranes, make paper airplanes, make a paper crossbow, create fake wounds, tie neckties, make a yarn pom pom, care for a bunny, make Greek coffee, draw a face, and properly dress a hot dog. Students enjoyed eating samples from the food demonstrations and making the craft items along with the speeches.
This week students are starting their Persuasive speeches. They will work with a partner to create and present their speech. Presentations start on Tuesday, May 12th.
